Mark Reckless MP Voices Concern Over Kingsnorth Jobs

Mark Reckless MP has raised concerns for employees at Kingsnorth power station on the Hoo Peninsula following E.ON’s decision to withdraw from the race to rebuild the station incorporating carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology despite the government announcing a £1 billion investment in the technology in Wednesday’s comprehensive spending review.

Speaking in this weekend’s Kent on Saturday, Mark said;

“The decision is for E.ON and the current economic conditions are such that they do not think it makes financial sense to build a new power station at this time.

My biggest worry is for the local people who work at the plant. Although they have been given a good deal of notice before the exisiting station closes, this will still create a great deal of uncertainty for them.”
